Frankfurt/Ratingen. The “Dejuna” complete bathroom series, which was introduced in 2010, was received with an extremely positive response among sanitary professionals, architects, planners and end consumers. The bathroom series meets all the requirements of a bathroom accessible for all the generations. At the same time, Dejuna fulfils the demands of barrier-free bathroom design without creating an atmosphere of hospitals or disabilities. The range was designed as a generational or lifetime bathroom, appealing even to young property owners and modernisers with its timeless, contemporary design. With the range, Keramag has closed a gap in the bathroom fittings market for the elevated safety requirements of all target groups.
Two additional ceramic products and special furniture elements have been added to the range. These are new wash basin vanity units in widths of 53 and 65 cm for wash basins in a width of 60, 65 and 75 cm, a floor/undershelf set for the 65 cm version, a side cabinet with cover panel which can be combined as a midi or tall cabinet, illuminated mirror in three widths (55, 65 and 75 cm) and a mobile and lockable stool with storage space and folding seat. The new furniture is available with a varnished, matt-white surface with colour-blocked veneers in graphite or caramel. The colour contrasts provide individual character in the bathroom and also allow versatile combination options with matching coloured accessories. The colour contrast between the surfaces and veneers also makes the bathroom easier for people with sight restrictions – particularly in neutrally coloured bathrooms. Shelves are integrated into the 10 cm deep doors of the Dejuna furniture, which offers additional, easily accessible storage for everyday items. The large wash basin vanity unit has been especially designed for sitting users and wheelchair users, in combination with the floor/undershelf set, which has a cut-out in the front. Due to the recess in the floors, there is space for the user’s legs comfortably under the wash basin, when the cabinet doors are opened.
The new ceramic pieces are a low-flush wall WC with 55 cm projection as well as a particularly convenient 75 cm wash basin with wide storage spaces on both sides and in the rear section. This wash basin and the modified 60 and 65 cm wash basins fulfil the new DIN 18040 directive with a projection of 55 cm, making them fantastically suited for the design of accessible washrooms in the professional sector.
The new mirrors also fulfil the requirements of all user groups. With their height of 100 cm, anyone can look in the mirror easily, from small child to particularly tall adults. This is because the lower edge of the mirror can be placed just above the fitting. As well as protection category IP 44, the height of the mirrors corresponds with DIN 18040 for the accessible sector. The energy-saving 14 watt LED lights, which are integrated into the side slots, ensure good lighting without a blinding effect.
With the innovative wash basins and WCs, the “Dejuna” series to date has already set standards, making it possible for people with limited mobility to enjoy the highest standard of independent use. The ceramic pieces, which can be supplied in a variety of designs, set new market standards with an abundance of design details and the optimised products in terms of functionality and ergonomics. In this way, the wash basins also allow seated users to easily and comfortably ensure their personal hygiene. The wide inner basin offers lots of space to be able to immerse the entire forearm into water. The front and side surfaces make getting hold and pulling yourself up easier. Soft radiuses and straight surfaces offer pleasant arm support and also act as support surfaces. The inner basin can be used with two levels of water and suits any requirement. When filled completely, there is a generous area for washing available. If the basin is only half filled, there are additional storage areas, for sponges and flannels, in the area close to the user. This two-level model reduces splash water and the effort needed for cleaning. The optimised drainage surfaces in the basin also contribute to this, along with the low-maintenance upstand on the wall.
The “Dejuna” WCs, which were introduced last year, also correspond to the new DIN 18040 directive and are impressive due to their “neutral” design. The wall-mounted WCs are available as low-flush and ledge versions with a comfortable width of 395 mm and a 700 mm projection. The range is supplemented by another wider low-flush standing WC with a ceramic height of 460 mm. All WC designs have a bevelled edge worked into the ceramic to ensure a high level of stability. The pieces are particularly easy to clean due to the closed surfaces, while the covered fittings also make cleaning easier. The standard fitting intervals mean that the wall-mounted WCs can also be used without any problems during renovations.
The WCs are complemented by special seats and seat rings, which form a harmonious unit with the ceramic pieces. The maximum level of stability is ensured by the wider seat, even for obese people and wheelchair users, so they can transfer on from the side. The wider seats have a continuous hinge pin made of stainless steel, which ensures secure use even when using the toilet from the side. WC seats with automatic lowering action are also available as an alternative. Seat rings without covers are available for the public services sector.
