ISH - “myDay”: The New Bathroom Facility

Frankfurt/Ratingen. At the heart of the Keramag exhibition at the ISH 2011 was the innovative complete bathroom series “myDay” (Designer: Cornelia Thies), which closes a gap in the medium-price range with its unusual design. The attractive stylistic design, with its floating, natural elegance, is focused on the living trend for more ease and emotion. The high degree of design originality and autonomy clearly elevates the new series from the more or less uniform mass products.
The range comprises wash basins, a twin wash basin, insert wash basin, hand-rinse basins, a wall-mounted WC and bidet, vanity units, a tall cabinet, illuminated mirror elements and bath tubs.
The unmistakable design is emphasised if you take a look at the wash basins, which are characterised by large radii, the narrow forward-turning rim and the generous tap hole bench. The distinct simple impression is formed by a reduced frame height, the cocked sides and the particular front design of the basin. The large format drainage cap with sophisticated chrome rim, whose shape creates associations with the characteristic appearance of modern mobile phones, is an eye-catcher. The design, which is convincing through to the smallest detail, does not have an overflow hole. This function is undertaken by the invisible drainage and “Clou” overflow system, which can be used optionally along with a positive drain.
The single wash basins are available in widths of 60, 65, 80 and 100 cm. In addition, a 130 cm wide twin wash basin is also available. For small bathrooms and guest toilets, 40 cm wide hand-rinse basins with a positive drain – as a left or right design – have been developed, which are adapted in their shape. As a generous alternative, insert basins (60 cm) without tap hole surface in combination with a vanity unit is available.
The “myDay” range is also supplemented by new WC and bidet pieces, whose simple design fits particularly well with the wash basins. The gently contoured side design and the downwards tapering style are striking. With the integrated WC seat with cover, the WC is impressive as a closed, high-quality unit. The bidet, which is identical in shape, has – as a consistent design characteristic – the same elegant drainage cap with chrome rim as the wash basins. The tried-and-tested “Clou” system can also be used as an option here.
The high-quality “myDay” furniture range also sets standards with its consistent design and functionality. The soft baseline continues along the pieces and handles. The edges of the furniture have large radii, just like the wash basins. The fronts of the drawers run around the edges and emphasis the overall high-quality impression of the series. All vanity units have drawers with self-closing runners. The vanity unit of the twin wash basin has a very modern character due to the continuous front with long handle.
In addition, vanity units are also available for the insert basin. The top panel for the wash basins, which can be integrated on the left or right side, is made of glass and comes with a pre-drilled tap hole. The furniture range is supplemented by a 150 cm high, 40 cm wide and just 25 cm deep tall cupboard, which offers individually adjustable storage space with one fixed glass shelf and four adjustable ones. The tall cabinet can be rotated; apart from this, the design and construction correspond with the specifications of the wash basin vanity units. An original and practical detail is the storage bag, integrated into the door, which has different compartments for utensils such as lipsticks, nail scissors, files, brushes, applicators, lotion and shower gel. All furniture are available in white high-gloss or taupe high-gloss finish.
Additional possibilities are created by the three illuminated mirror (40 x 80, 60 x 80, 100 x 70 cm), whose organic form convincingly integrate into the complete design concept. The LED technology used allows emotional lighting in the bathroom.
The new “myDay” bathroom series is complemented by the bath tubs, coordinated in terms of form and function, which also have the large-format drainage cap with high-quality chrome rim as a consistent distinctive defining feature. Characteristic of the bath tub design is the asymmetrical shape with wide rim on the side near the wall. Two versions are available, 170 x 75 and 180 x 80 cm.
