New Sink by Keramag
“Espital”: sink for hospitals, nurseries and care homes / Wall-mounted version with hinged grate / Special stain resistant glaze / Can be combined with conventional pre-wall installation elements / Attractive price positioning /
Frankfurt/Ratingen. At the ISH 2011, Keramag presented the new wall-mounted “Espital” sink. This is a sink, which was developed for a multitude of sectors, such as hospitals, day nurseries, care homes and care facilities, as well as for use in industry. With the wall-mounted version, the manufacturer is accommodating the general wish of operators. The basin, in a soft geometric design, is fitted as standard with a hinged grate made of stainless steel. The product has a clearance of 50 mm in the front sector, so that the grate can be lifted without contact to the ceramic. The grate is fitted with three buffers to avoid damage and hard impact to the wall and ceramic.
In terms of ease of maintenance, Keramag has broken the mould. On one hand, the wall mounting makes floor cleaning easier. On the other hand, the new “Espital” basin is equipped as standard with stain resistant “KeraTect” glaze. This is a surface finish, which is characterised by an extremely smooth surface and attractive high-gloss effect. As a result, the adhesion of dirt and bacteria is largely prevented. Maintenance takes minimal effort, so without intensive scouring and cleaning. For this reason, “KeraTect” does not only reduce the time taken to maintain the bathroom, but also the consumption of cleaning supplies. The 30-year functional guarantee, which the manufacturer provides for the special glaze, ensures a high level of operational security.
The product innovation is 400 mm wide and has a projection of 480 mm. The internal bowl has sufficient space to quickly, easily and hygienically empty a variety of containers.
Normal stair bolts are used for mounting. The sink can be combined with all conventional pre-wall elements. Inlets and drains as well as fasteners correspond to the configuration of normal wall-mounted WCs. The installation height of the ceramic edge can be adapted to the pre-wall element.
The sink can optionally be combined with a fitting to provide fresh water. Special pre-wall elements from well-known suppliers are also available for this use. To do this, the fitting is installed above the opened grate. The cistern is then positioned over the fitting, which does not affect the activation of the flush plate. Keramag recommends 60 cm as the height for the upper ceramic edge, which facilitates ergonomic relief when pouring of bedpans, buckets and potties. The price positioning of this innovation is interesting. Despite the “KeraTect” glaze, which is now provided as standard, the new product is more cost-effective than the previous model.
The wall-mounted “Espital” version is available from July 2011.
