Trade Fair Premiere: New Washbasin Generation for Lifetime Bathrooms

Frankfurt/Ratingen. A new generation of multi-functional washbasins for all target groups – right up to older people and those whose movement is restricted – was presented by Keramag with “Dejuna Pro” at the ISH 2011. Consequently, the manufacturer is expanding the shapely generational or lifetime bathroom “Dejuna”, which was introduced in 2010, to include special washroom solutions with attractive design made from the tried-and-tested mineral material “Varicor”. This coloured material has proven itself over the last few decades under hard conditions, particularly due to its high resilience, resistance and easiness to clean.
The initial idea of the new development was to combine the versatile system advantages of the material with the typical, attractive but functional “Dejuna” design. In cooperation with specialists from the field of application, a 600 mm wide wash basin with a projection conforming to DIN 18040 of 550 mm and with generous storage space was developed. This core element is complemented by 210 mm wide side shelves. This makes the total width 1,020 mm. The basic model can be supplemented through various features – depending on requirements. The “Dejuna Pro” wash basin offers a light, easy-to-clean upstand on the wall and multi-functional holes, which can be used for wastebasket or towel holder or as an additional area to grip. In the lower section of the front side, another area to grip is integrated, which makes it easier for wheelchair users to pull up. Apart from this, the washstand concept exhibits the familiar functional and ergonomic characteristics, such as side arm supports, soft edges and two usable water levels.
At the ISH 2011, the “Dejuna-Pro” wash basin premiered as a series installation made of three basins with different intervals and opening combinations to demonstrate its versatility of use and variability.
As a pilot study, Keramag also exhibited an installation with an innovative “Varicor” fitting as a pioneering development in terms of product appeal, safety and ease of care. This fitting is controlled using touch fields, which activate the controls using motion sensors when a user approaches the basin. The temperature is lowered or increased by pressing a blue or red button. An LED sensor in the tap aerator displays the relevant degree value. A safety device to protect against scalding prevents injuries. After the user has finished, the water stops at the touch of a button. Alternatively, the water flow stops when the user leaves the registration zone. Depending on requirements, the activatable line flushing ensures integrated thermal disinfection.
Initially, the new “Dejuna-Pro” wash basin will be supplied with two side storage areas (width 1,020 mm) with or without multi-functional holes. In addition, the wash basin is available as an asymmetric version with left and right storage spaces (width 810 mm). Optionally, these can also be ordered with multi-functional holes.
The product is attached to the wall using stair bolts for all versions. The “Dejuna” wall installation drainage set is compatible. A pre-formed short half-column protects the legs of seated users from touching the drainage bend.
The new multi-functional “Dejuna Pro” wash basin made from “Varicor” are only available in Alpine White.
