„FlushTimeControl”: Time-controlled flushing system for „Centaurus“ urinals

Frankfurt/Ratingen. Urinals with innovative system technology can contribute to a reduction in running costs in heavily frequented public restrooms as their water consumption can be restricted by using intelligent flushing systems. This is becoming ever more important due to the pressure caused by rising water and energy prices and allows one to consistently exploit the unused saving potentials to improve cost effectiveness.

A cost-effective individually programmable solution has been introduced by Keramag AG at the ISH 2009: With its time controlled urinal flushing system “FlushTimeControl” the manufacturer presented an automatic, but still for the operator of the rest room flexibly programmable, urinal flush for its “red dot” award winning hybrid urinal “Centaurus”. These urinals which can also be used in fully waterless operation are particularly suitable for time controlling as they have been created in such a way that neither the residue from the last user are visible or that any smell occurs.

The operator of the sanitary system can programme the flushing intervals optimally throughout the day or week to suit the frequency of use. New programming is possible at any time should the frequency of use change. The flush interval spectrum ranges from regular flushing at the same time, for example in permanently used transit areas, through different flushing times during the week and at weekends at schools, universities and office buildings up to intervals for various opening times for example in shopping centres. In sport stadia, theatres and other event buildings, use can be restricted to event times.

The system consists of a control box with digital timer and a ¾-inch solenoid valve, which can control up to 8 urinals. In connection with a second valve a maximum of 16 urinals can be used flexibly, eco-friendly and cost effectively. The programming of the flushing system allows up to 32 different intervals per day where the length of the flush can be set between only one up to 59 seconds. Longer flushing times can be useful for flushes after the rest rooms have been cleaned, allowing residue of cleaning substances to be removed.
